We've been coming here for years and always love the casual, friendly, and fast service, along with consistently tasty food. My favorites are the Fogata burrito (breakfast burrito) with cilantro cream or the combo plate with beef taquitos (trust me, the beef upgrade it worth it!). I think it's well priced and filling. We primarily do take out and it's super easy through their website, but I prefer to pick up inside rather than at the window. For potlucks, I also love getting a full tray of beef and chicken taquito and tub of guacamole from their catering menu. It's always a hit and so easy! Love supporting a local spot like this!
We haven't been here since pre pandemic days and it's as good as ever! Appreciate the Friendly staff that is hustling to get your order in and serve your food asap. Great menu choices and I'm a fan of the salsa bar-- the spicy pico is terrific as are the pickled veggies. My shredded chicken enchiladas were perfect-- the right levels of heat/flavor and sauce with rice and beans. The portions are big enough for leftovers too. The tortilla chips are as expected -- fresh, crunchy, and salty. An outstanding value for dinner!
I think about this guacamole weekly! I have only gotten the chips, salsa, and guacamole but it's so good and fresh, smooth and it tastes delicious! They have a parking lot or there is street parking! The ladies that have helped me have always been nice, friendly and I get my order right away but I have only gotten chips. I will definitely come back and try other things on the menu, definitely recommend!!
I haven't been here in years. Used to go when our kids played soccer at the adjacent park. Needed a takeout option and decided to give it a try. Place was doing a good business at dinner time on a Tuesday, especially their takeout. We ordered 2 combo plates with enchiladas and a tamale, and a camarones plate. Servings were substantial with rice and beans. Quality was very good, especially the red sauce. Enchiladas were delicious and the tamale was okay but I probably wouldn't order it again. Salsa and quacamole were great. Definitely room for improvement on the rice. Nobody ate it. Good service. Fair prices. A good choice for solid Mexican food.
I had a great meal here at La Fogata. This restaurant has such a homely, casual ambiance that was very comforting. You order at the counter, and then stock up on salsas/sides at their open salsa bar, and then a server brings the food to your table. I got the classic Fogata Burrito, and that was one of the biggest and tastiest burritos I ever had. I loved having all of their salsas too and giving them all a try. The staff here were so kind to me too. I can't wait for more visits to La Fogata!
It was my good fortitude to be on Van Nuys Boulevard, in Sherman Oaks on a Monday afternoon. That is how I found La Fogata, a Mexican restaurant that also does catering. The inside of the restaurant is small, but with polished tables, merengue music (one of my favorites) and a very friendly and inviting staff. Came here to get a carry out lunch order. First, the Taquiza, a 4 street tacos presentation (chose chicken). All four soft tacos were loaded with generous portions of grilled chicken and condiments. A lovely dish. Second, a combo plate of carne asada taco and chicken tamale (in salsa verde). The soft taco was loaded with bite sized pieces of grilled steak that were full of flavor, texture and taste. The accompanying condiments were well balanced. Add the variety of available salsas from the salsa bar and it takes the taco to another level. The tamale was soft and tender. It came with a choice of two sides. My preference was black beans and refried pinto beans. Both served in plentiful portions. All in all, a wonderful find and an overall memorable experience. La Fogata has an extensive menu. I know I will be going back.
I have driven past this local Mexican restaurant so many times that I am almost embarrassed to mention that this is the first time I stepped inside. Okay, there I said it! It was "Taco Tuesday" and we wanted to try something new. I opened up my yelp collections and this popped up. There were so many great reviews from Yelpers I know so it was a no brainer. We ordered online and picked up our food 15 mins later. We ordered: chicken enchiladas, crunchy chicken taco w/refried beans & rice; 2 carne asada soft tacos w/black beans & rice. Everyone was super friendly and it was very clean inside. I noted how busy they were and the outdoor patio with a TV. They also have a pick up window on the side of the building across from the baseball fields. My carne asada tacos were loaded with meat. *only complaint: the meat was a tad bit tough. My daughter loved her enchilada & crunchy taco. I will get that next time. *Plenty of parking in the lot *Easy to order online for pickup or delivery *Reasonably priced
